WHY WE ASK FOR YOUR HELPSince 1887, the University YMCA has served the University of Minnesota and the Twin Cities community. As an official student organization of the University of Minnesota, the University Y seeks to develop ethical leadership skills of young adults through community involvement and reflective learning. Programs focus on building community, social awareness and progressive leadership roles. Student leadership opportunities include: - Mentoring
- Tutoring
- Internships
- Service Learning
- Travel
Here are three ways you can be a part of the mission of the University YMCA: Y Partners Annual Campaign Each year, the YMCA raises funds through our Y Partners campaign. These funds stay in our local community, to address critical needs and provide scholarships so that no one is turned away from YMCA membership or programs due to financial need.
Everything we do at the University YMCA incorporates the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Through YMCA youth and young adult leadership development programs, we build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. But we don’t do it alone. Thousands of volunteers and donors help to ensure that all children and young adults, regardless of their financial situations, can benefit from YMCA programs. We believe that’s essential to building stronger communities. Y Partners 2010 is focusing on four critical needs. - Ethical Leadership
- Service to Community
- Lifelong Volunteerism
- School Success
Our 2010 University Y Partners Goal is $110,000. Find out more about the 2010 University YMCA Y Partners Campaign by reviewing our Mission Impact Sheet.
50 for 50 Campaign
"Be one of the 50 University YMCA partners pledging $50 a month for a year!" Many of Minneapolis' youth face daily obstacles that threaten their ability to succeed in school. Many simply don't have the personal support, direction or financial assistance they need to go on to college. A sponsorship can make a college education a reality...and the prospect of a self-supporting future more likely. The University YMCA school based initiative provides wrap-around programs and services after school in support of the academic success of K-12th grade students. Your contribution will provide a quality program experience, additional materials, supplies, and support that most urban schools cannot afford. Or contact the University YMCA at 612-676-7700 to sign up to become part of this special program and make a difference in the lives of children. Capital CampaignHigh quality programs that serve the needs of individuals and families in our communities will always be the focal point of our YMCA. The promotion of service to diverse populations and the creation of new programs that serve the entire family is the mandate that we have today and in the future. To keep pace with the demands and the need for quality programs, additional facilities must be sought. To accomplish this, the Board of Directors has approved a $55 million capital campaign. Our branch goal is $500,000. We are requesting that you share in a capital investment – one that will help shape the future of our youth, families, and our community. Pledges are sought and payable over the next three to five year period. Gifts in the form of appreciated property and securities are also encouraged. When you respond in a manner worthy of your interest and ability, it assures the success of these projects. Pledges can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or on an annual basis.
We need the YMCA. Our kids need the YMCA. Our communities need the YMCA. Commitment to Community is our response to do all that we can to make sure those needs are met – today and well into the future. By pledging to this campaign you will be joining others in securing the future of the YMCA. We invite you to join us in this campaign, as together we fulfill our Commitment to Community through the University YMCA. Click here for more details on the University YMCA Capital Campaign.
