WHY WE ASK FOR YOUR HELP

The YMCA is more than a “gym and swim” – we are a non-profit 501(c)(3)organization that addresses critical needs in our local community through programs in child care, youth development, school success, fitness and more.  The new YMCA will serve the communities of Prior Lake, Shakopee, Savage and beyond.

Every day, we help people make their lives better, and every day we encourage our members and participants to commit themselves to the mission of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Here’s how you can be a part of the mission of the YMCA: 

The YMCA Capital Campaign

The YMCA has been active in the communities of Prior Lake, Savage and Shakopee for over twenty years with high quality programs serving the needs of individuals and families in Scott County.  The promotion of service to diverse populations and the creation of new programs that serve the entire family is the mandate that we have today and in the future.

Now, in order to meet the growing needs of the Scott County area, the YMCA is launching a fundraising campaign in the community to support the construction of a new YMCA on the scenic Shepherd of the Lake campus at County 42 and McKenna Road in Prior Lake.

Scheduled to open in the Fall of 2009, the River Valley YMCA in Prior Lake will be a 50,000 square foot facility offering the following community benefits:

• Health and wellness, including cardiovascular and strength training and exercise studios.
• Aquatics, featuring two pools for swimming lessons, aquatic classes and recreational fun.
• A Kids' Area for children's programs and recreational activities.
• Youth and Teen programs and activities that encourage recreation, education and service learning.
• Licensed childcare for infant, toddler and preschoolers.

We are requesting that you share in a capital investment – one that will help shape the future of our youth, families, and our community. The goal of the YMCA Capital Campaign is $4 million.  Pledges are sought and payable over the next three to five year period. Gifts in the form of appreciated property and securities are also encouraged. When you respond in a manner worthy of your interest and ability, it assures the success of these projects. Pledges can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or on an annual basis. 

We need the YMCA. Our kids need the YMCA. Our communities need the YMCA. Commitment to Community is our response to do all that we can to make sure those needs are met – today and well into the future.  By pledging to this campaign you will be joining others in securing the future of the YMCA.

The Legacy Wall

The Legacy Wall is a great way for you and your family or business to leave your mark on the YMCA for years to come.  Each contributor at the $300 or more level will be recognized with a custom tile designed by you, the donor!  It can include a four-color art design, which can be a photo, company logo, or drawing utilizing crayons or felt tip marker.

The Legacy Wall giving levels are:
